Book Description:
Some secrets refuse to stay buried…
When a skeleton is unearthed beneath an old rose bed on a once-grand estate, DI Sally Parker and DS Lorne Warner are pulled into a case unlike any they’ve faced before. But as forensic analysis reveals a chilling truth – the investigation takes a dark turn – the bones belong to multiple victims.
With whispers of long-forgotten disappearances and hidden betrayals, Sally and Lorne must untangle a web of lies stretching back ten years. As they dig deeper, the past refuses to stay buried, and someone will do anything to keep their secrets hidden.
Because in this garden, the dead still have a story to tell…
My Thoughts:
When builders unearth a coffin, Sally and Lorne are first on the case. The once stunning estate has been left to ruin after the owners mysteriously disappeared ten years prior. What is more baffling is that the coffin holds bones from multiple victims. Have the team discovered the bodies of the owners or is something more sinister afoot?
It certainly isn’t an easy case and it takes it’s toll on the team. There is a lot of investigating to do with speaking to potential witnesses whilst awaiting results from Pat. You can feel the teams frustration at not knowing who the bones belong to and it seems to have even got Pat more riled than normal. Tensions are high which causes some friction.
Garden of Bones was a gripping mystery which will have you second guessing everything. I really enjoy the working, as well as out of work, bond that Sally and Lorne have. They make a formidable team and it was also good to see their new boss getting his hands dirty! All in all it makes for a thrilling ride with the story taking unexpected turns as well as being quite emotional in places. An engrossing page-turner!
My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book.
