My Thoughts:

The opening chapter of this novel had me hook, line and sinker! Honestly, one of the best openings I have read in a long time.

Susan does something that we all fear of, she posts a message in the wrong group and wow, does it back fire spectacularly! The chain of events that happen from this one mistake was literally breath taking. Things go from bad to worse as Susan doesn’t know who to trust. Everyone seems to be hiding something and the secrets are absolutely jaw-dropping.

The story is told mainly from Susan’s point of view but also flicks between different characters which builds the story wonderfully. It will have you question about how good technology really is, in that it can cause a multitude of problems, that for ones of us that can remember a time before mobile phones and social media, it makes me glad that part of my life growing up, we didn’t have to deal with the negative issues that so many have to deal with now adays.

It Should Have Been You was a never ending roller coaster of a read that was truly exhilarating. There was never a dull moment and I was gripped to every word and eager to discover the truth. I know one thing, I will be triple checking any messages from now on that I have posted in the right place! I love this author’s writing and her books just get better and better. Andrea Mara has definitely raised the bar with her latest psychological thriller and knocked it out of the park. Without a doubt this is one of my top reads of 2025!
