Agent Interview: Katie Bircher (Sara Crowe Literary)Agent Interview: Katie Bircher (Sara Crowe Literary) with rahim66

Welcome to our conversation with Katie Bircher, Associate Agent at Sara Crowe Literary. Katie may be a new agent, but she’s spent years shaping the conversation around picture books. As an editor and reviewer for The Horn Book, she helped define what makes a standout story. She’s also worked as a bookseller, freelance editor, and … Continue reading Agent Interview: Katie Bircher (Sara Crowe Literary) from Only Picture Books https://ift.tt/8PChfnq from rahim 7867

Book Description: She just wants to belong. But some scars run too deep. Clara’s past is never far behind—but this time, she’s determined to outrun it. Starting over as a support worker, she finds unexpected refuge in Cedric House, the home of kind-hearted widow Roberta. It feels like a second chance. Maybe even a home. But Clara is no stranger to damage—nor to the anger simmering just beneath the surface. She’s trying: therapy, anger management, staying out of trouble. Then everything begins to crack. A workplace confrontation. A neighbourly dispute. And the fragile peace she’s fought so hard for starts to slip through her fingers. Safe at Home  is a raw and moving portrait of a woman on the edge—craving connection, battling inner demons, and trying to prove that even the most broken people deserve a place to belong. My Thoughts: This latest offering by the author is quite different to what she usually writes and I’m not quite sure what genre it falls in. You have a ...

To Hurt Them (DI Sam Cobbs Book 17) by M.A. Comley @ComleyMelTo Hurt Them (DI Sam Cobbs Book 17) by M.A. Comley @ComleyMel with rahim66

Book Description: From NY Times bestselling author M A Comley, author of the Justice series, who has sold almost five million copies worldwide comes yet another page-turning thriller set in the stunning Lake District. Some stories should never leave the page. When a series of brutal murders rocks the quiet beauty of the Lake District, DI Sam Cobbs and DS Bob Jones find themselves chasing a killer—or killers—who seem to be following a chilling blueprint. The crime scenes mirror events from a recently published novel, blurring the lines between fiction and reality. As the body count rises, Sam and Bob must unravel a web of lies, obsession, and dark motives buried beneath the surface of an unsuspecting community. But the deeper they dig, the more dangerous the story becomes. Because someone is determined to write their own ending… and not everyone will survive to read it. My Thoughts: I love the back drop of the Lake District in this series, having been lucky enough to have visi...

Book Description: Ellie is planning to bring Little Duck Pond Café cakes to the surrounding villages with her Travelling Cake Van! But as she’s ‘expecting’ to make a rather more personal delivery of her own very soon, will Katja be the one to get behind the wheel of this fabulously mouth-watering journey into the countryside? My Thoughts: I absolutely loved the idea of a travelling cake van, more so as it helps cut down on food waste and brings delicious cakes to the surrounding local villages. The prices are an absolute bargain to boot so everyone is a winner. Such an ingenious idea. What was even better is we get to meet lots of new characters in the different villages which really made this story. The story mainly focuses on Katja who is going through a rough time with her love life. Whilst it is getting her down, I loved her positivity to keep on going. Driving the cake van gives her some what of an escape and the people she meets certainly make a big impression on her. M...

Book Description: A baby might be the best thing that ever happened to Marie… but it’s also the most chaotic. Just when  Marie  thought her life couldn’t get any more complicated, she and  Brian  are thrown into the whirlwind of parenthood. Between sleepless nights and endless nappies, maternity leave isn’t exactly the break she imagined. As she struggles to find a group of mums who share her love for wine and a good laugh on Friday afternoons, Marie can’t help but feel like everyone else has this parenting thing figured out — while she’s just trying to survive. But amidst all the nappy changes and baby bottles, Marie’s Fat Club friends are facing their own personal struggles, and she’s so wrapped up in her new role as a mum that she’s barely noticed. With everything spinning out of control, can Marie find a way to be there for her friends when they need her the most? Maybe it’s time to be open about her own struggles, because if there’s one thing Marie’s le...
